Bulgaria. There’s the history, ancient sites, beaches, traditional dance, culture, fire dancing. Beautiful terrain and the mountains. An ideal weekend away.

Bulgaria’s Rhodope mountain, in particular, is home to the mysterious, atmospheric and eclectic Meadows in the Mountains Festival. Now in its sixth year, for three days over June 7-10, MIMT will be reaffirming itself as king of the mountaintop, in what will be another mystical and unexpected weekend; one which we have high on our lists. This isn’t your classic Europe festival-weekender, MITM brings us back to nature and nurtures a community vibe that has all the ingredients for something spectacular.

Oh to “shrug off the binding chains of the 9-5 and indulge in a debauched weekend of mind-expanding experience, community and free spirit”. I’m in.

MITM themselves state that the experience is not solely about an A-List line-up. This uniquely magical experience has different priorities.

Meadows is all about intimacy, atmosphere, diversity, culture and community. We strive to provide a platform for up and coming unsigned acts/DJs, curating our line-up this way rather than cramming the list with headliners.

With the line-up announced this week, we are beginning to see this unique and diverse mix of artists and genres. The 4 days of music will include the classically trained violinist Marques Toliver, who the Guardian have been raving on about back since 2009 thanks to his mix of classic R&B with a soulful twist.

Little Gay Brother brought the gay bar to Secret Garden Party for the past 6 years. Now SGP is no more, for the first time they will be heading a main stage takeover at MIMT. The kings, queens and queers will bring a high energy disco experience with the help of some of their finest dancers and performers, alongside two of their favourite DJs; Wax Wings and Oli Keens.

The 2x Chris’ from South London FYI Chris, will be performing at Meadows for the first time. With releases on Church Recordings, Rhythm Section, and Lumberjacks from Hell, this dusty house duo will fit right in at a sunset session at Meadows.

Canadian RAMZi, brings an eerie, ever-changing and hypnotic mix. This young electronic producer will be performing her Latin and African influenced mix of sound.

Another on our list, Young Waters – folk with a twist, this young band's debut album will be released later this year. Enchanting and relaxing they have us hooked. Gentle reminders of Celtic Scottish sounds without sending us to sleep.
